Privacy Policy
Privacy and data stewardship.
This policy describes how Eldereese LLC handles personal information across the websites and brands that link to this policy.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to Eldereese LLC and to websites and brands operated or controlled by Eldereese that link to this policy, including Eldereese.com, DanElder.com, MilitaryResearchGroup.com, NCOHistory.com, NCOHistoricalSociety.com, and NCOGuide.com. A particular site may provide additional notices for features unique to that site. Third-party websites and platforms reached through external links are governed by their own privacy policies.
2. Information we collect
We aim to collect only information reasonably necessary for the activity you request. Depending on the site and feature, this may include:
- Contact information, such as name, email address, and optional telephone number.
- Inquiry information, including messages, manuscript descriptions, publishing inquiries, rights questions, or other information you choose to submit.
- Technical and security information, such as IP address, browser or device information, timestamps, request logs, and information used to detect spam, abuse, or security threats.
- Transaction-related information when a brand links to third-party commerce or payment services. Payment-card information is generally handled by the applicable payment provider rather than stored by Eldereese on these static websites.
- Communications information if you correspond with us by email or through another service.
Please do not submit highly sensitive information through public contact forms unless specifically requested through an appropriate secure channel.
3. How we use personal information
We may use personal information to respond to inquiries, evaluate publishing or collaboration requests, provide requested information, administer brand and publishing relationships, protect our sites against fraud or abuse, maintain records, comply with legal obligations, enforce terms, and improve the operation and security of our websites.
We do not sell personal information. We do not currently use personal information collected through Eldereese.com for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4. Legal bases for processing
Where the European Union General Data Protection Regulation, United Kingdom GDPR, or similar law requires a legal basis, we process personal information as appropriate based on: your consent; steps requested by you before entering a contract or performance of a contract; our legitimate interests in responding to inquiries, administering our brands, protecting our systems, and maintaining records; or compliance with legal obligations.
You may withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing, without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.
5. Sharing and service providers
We may disclose information to service providers that help us host websites, deliver email, secure forms, process payments, publish content, or perform other functions on our behalf. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, in connection with a legal or business restructuring, or with your direction or consent.
Our centralized contact service uses Cloudflare Turnstile or a similar security service to reduce automated spam and abuse. Brand sites may link to or use third-party platforms such as Substack, Amazon, Stripe, hosting providers, or other services. Those providers process information under their own terms and privacy notices as applicable.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
Our sites may use cookies or similar technologies that are strictly necessary for security, session management, form operation, and essential site functions. For example, the centralized contact service may use a short-lived session identifier to protect form submissions.
Individual brand sites may use third-party services or analytics. Where applicable law requires consent before non-essential cookies or similar technologies are activated, the applicable site should present an appropriate consent mechanism. We do not rely on this policy alone as consent for non-essential tracking.
7. Data retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to maintain appropriate business or publishing records, resolve disputes, protect legal rights, or satisfy legal obligations. Retention periods may vary by the type of inquiry, relationship, or record.
8. Privacy rights
Depending on where you live and applicable law, you may have rights to request access to personal information, correction, deletion, portability, restriction of processing, or information about how your data is used. You may also have rights to object to certain processing or to opt out of certain sales, sharing, or targeted advertising.
Eldereese does not sell personal information. If our practices materially change, we will update this policy and provide any legally required choice mechanisms.
To make a privacy request, contact support@eldereese.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted by law, subject to appropriate verification.
9. International visitors and transfers
Eldereese LLC is based in the United States. If you access our sites from another country, personal information you submit may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. Those countries may have data-protection laws different from those in your jurisdiction.
Where a legally required transfer mechanism applies to a particular processing activity, we will use an appropriate mechanism or service-provider arrangement. This policy does not represent that Eldereese participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework unless Eldereese separately completes the applicable certification.
10. Children
Our sites are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly solicit personal information from children under 13 through these general-purpose websites. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child in circumstances requiring parental consent, we will take appropriate steps to delete or otherwise address the information.
11. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the nature of the information we maintain. No website, email system, or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users should avoid sending sensitive information through ordinary web forms or email.
12. Third-party links
Our sites contain links to websites, retailers, publishers, social platforms, archives, and other third parties. Eldereese is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites. Review the privacy notice of the service you are using.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the portfolio, technology, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the current version. Material changes may be highlighted on the affected site when appropriate.
14. Contact
Privacy questions and requests may be submitted through our contact page or by email to support@eldereese.com.
